Jesus tells us to “ask, seek and knock.” And he tells us that when we do we will receive what we ask for. But while this may be true sometimes, our experience tells us it isn’t true all the time. There are people who died of cancer instead of getting better. relationships that fell apart instead of getting closer, and problems that didn’t get fixed when we asked. How do we make sense of the fact that Jesus says “everyone who asks, receives,” when it doesn’t fit with our human experience?
