The Bible is an ancient document that followers of Jesus use as a guide for living and knowing God. But as time has progressed modern advancements in science and culture have challenged how it is interpreted. This has created tension between what Christians believe and how we understand new information about the world. The Bible says God created the earth in 7 days over 5000 years ago. But our scientific understanding of the world says the Earth is 4.5 billion years old. The Bible says slaves should obey their masters, but our modern human understanding is that slavery is universally wrong. How do we bridge the gap between our belief in ancient, unchanging truth and our continually changing and evolving understanding of the world?
