In today’s world, we often find ourselves on different sides of various issues. For every belief you have, there is someone who has an opposing viewpoint. Whether those differences are moral, religious, or political, there always seems to be a gap between us. Jesus calls us to love our neighbor as ourselves, but what about those we strongly disagree with? What about people whose beliefs clash with ours, whether it’s about sexual ethics, family values, politics, or religion? What is our responsibility to those whom we find morally objectionable? In the story of the Good Samaritan, Jesus reveals a radical view of mercy that may show us a way forward in a divided world.
